Royal here, once again to give you the dog’s perspective. This week, I’d like to comment on Jenn’s blog “Polite Door Greetings” where Jenn explains how to start managing your dog’s behavior around the front door and with guests. This seems to be one of the top complaints you humans have about us dogs. That we […]

Halloween begins a busy season in many households. The arrival of trick-or-treaters and Thanksgiving and holiday guests can send many dogs into a whirlwind of jumping up, barking, and over-arousal. Many dogs become over-stimulated by the sound of the doorbell alone. This time of year is ideal for helping your dog develop and practice polite greeting behaviors. Here […]

Royal here, once again to give you the dog’s perspective. This time, I’d like to comment on Jenn’s blog “Reduce frights and bites during Halloween.” So there’s this time of year where you humans get so weird! The leaves fall and you all get out all these morbid things. We dogs just shake our heads […]

Halloween is an exciting and enjoyable time of year for families with young children. We pay a lot of attention to decorating and planning out costumes and having plenty of treats available. We often forget about making Halloween a safe and enjoyable experience for dogs. Planning ahead and thinking about how dogs might react to […]

Royal here! Once again to give you the dog’s perspective. Jenn’s recent blog post talked about how you humans tend to trust your family dog around small kids, maybe a bit too much. Unfortunately, sometimes that trust leads to lack of supervision and lack of awareness about your dog’s stress level, which can lead to […]

Jenn Merritt, BS, CPDT-KA, and Kim Merritt-Butler grew up loving dogs. Jenn became a professional dog trainer and Tellington TTouch practitioner and Kim became a serial entrepreneur. Last year they got their heads together and came up with a new way to approach dog training for families. Good Dog in a Box was born.
Their mission is to keep dogs and kids safe through education, awareness, and advocacy. They want to reduce the number of family dogs surrendered at animal shelters by promoting positive, reward based training techniques that are family and kid friendly.
Jenn and Kim want everyone that owns a dog to have fun and enjoy their furry companion. Together, we can make a difference.
